Chapter 1: Cramming all our Stuff into a Bag!

Time to see what Becky and I are bringing with us! We laid out all of our stuff in a semi organized fashion. We probably wont buy anything unless we’re replacing something, but a LOT of research and headache went into the necessities of this trip…so…here goes:

Becky’s Stuff. She managed to find a little tiny CPAP meant for travel. That’s what the tubing and mask are in the center. It helps with her sleep apnea and fits REALLY well into her bag. As you’ll soon see, she is considerably better at presenting her stuff on camera than me…

But all of that was stuffed into…

This! That’s Becky’s bag in all it’s 10lbs of glory. She elected to carry fewer items of clothing and not have diabetes, so her stuff is a bit lighter. She also doesn’t have a collapsible water bottle like me, so I guess she will just die of thirst or pollute the earth with plastic water bottles…classic. Her bag has way more extra room than mine, and she’s not bringing an extra pair of shoes like me. She has a bit of a phobia of overpacking because I’ve teased her in the past…now I look pretty stupid.

This is my stuff… It took a few days but I’ve whittled it down to a LOT less than it was before. To the left of the sandals at the top of the picture you can see my Blood Glucose monitors, which have been the most difficult thing to find room for. Turns out I am a magician, however, because ALL OF THIS fit into:

This! This is the final iteration. Best I could pack it up. It’s not particularly tight or heavy. It weighs in at about 12.5 lbs, which is a pretty comfortable weight for me. My water bottle is empty, so add another 2lbs when full and you’ve got everything I own for the next 2ish months. Not bad for a pack rat!

That’s the entirety of our stuff. We are so excited. They both fit into overhead compartments (we checked) and yeah…we ended up with the same backpack in the only two colors they had it in, but I guess we share the same great taste!
