Chapter 3: McParis

Made it to Paris everyone! We were so impressed by our flight. We booked WestJet Premium on our points and honestly – game changer. Or maybe we’re just easily impressed. As soon as you board they give you sparkling wine. And microfibre blankets. What?!? Blake had a bit of sad flight, but was pumped about the massive free headphones, which lifted his spirits considerably. He’s a simple man.

All Tucked In!

We landed at Charles Du Gaulle just after 12 noon, Paris time (4 AM in Edmonton) and truthfully just kinda winged it. We figured out the Paris Transit system – super easy – and took a Train clear across the city to the airport in the South – ORLY airport.

Naturally after so much travel we were bagged and ready to try out some real French cuisine – so we stepped out of our comfort zone and went exotic – ended up at a place called McDonalds. Super good. Highly recommend.

We grabbed a cheapie airport hotel for the evening and did our first load of “pilgrims laundry” – hand wash in the sink. Blake McGuyvere’d a clothes line out of some paracord and I gotta say – I’m impressed.

It’s just after 6 AM in Paris as I write this, and in about an hour we will be flying from Paris to south of France (Bayonne) and then it’s a 2 hour train to the start of the walk in St. Jean Pied-du-Port. It’s quite a journey just to get to the start of the Camino, but we’re having a great time and trying to make the best of it despite the hardships back home. All our love – Becky and Blake.

    1. Hey Dad! Yep – Blakes been learning a tonne. And I’ve been learning to say “Sorry I don’t know Celine Dion” in French. (Seriously lol)! Not lost yet! Having a great time!
